Parent to School Communication


Parents are encouraged to communicate with the school through the following means:

CLASSROOM VISITATIONS:
Parents may want to visit and observe their child's classroom with an advance appointment made directly through the teacher. Parents must first receive a visitor's pass from the office prior to attending a class. Parents are asked not to visit classrooms in September or in June.

SCHEDULED CONFERENCES:
Parents and teachers meet to discuss the progress of each child during school-scheduled conferences. The 1st scheduling is done after Back to School Night. Other conferences are usually held after quarterly report cards are issued.

URGENT CONFERENCES:
May be requested by parents or teachers to share specific concerns.

CONFERENCE WITH THE PRINCIPAL:
May be requested by the Principal, a teacher or a parent to discuss pertinent matters. These meetings may be arranged through the school secretary. If the issue involves a teacher and/or classroom-related matters, parents are urged to resolve the matter with the teacher prior to seeking the assistance of the Principal.

COMMUNICATION WITH EDUCATION COMMITTEE AND BOARD MEMBER:
If an issue has not been resolved through teachers and the Administration, the issue may be addressed in writing to the Education Committee.
